Halloween

It's the same thing every year.

They start selling Halloween candy in September, more than a month before the holiday. I've learned to wait. Who can have candy sitting around for more than a month, right? So finally last week I bought some: mini Paydays, Mounds, and Smarties. You have to get Smarties.

I can't leave these things alone. Any time I'm feeling a little hungry, there's candy in the pantry. I could have an apple, or a salad, or I can have candy. What are you gonna do? I actually had to buy more this week, just to be sure there would be enough for tonight, mini Hershey bars and Kit Kats.

I know, I could get candy that I don't like. Jolly Ranchers, which I found good for morning sickness but not much else, for example. But I can't get those, in good conscience. We get toddlers, even babies, at the door. You can't give them hard candy.

Actually, now that I mention it, that really bugs me. People come to the door with costumed infants and toddlers to beg candy. You can't tell me that kids that young really want to be out there.

So anyway, candy. Buy some I don't like. Problem is, I like almost all varieties of candy. I bet you saw that coming. So it's the same thing every year. I buy candy and then pick at it until trick-or-treating is over. Then of course, I raid the kids' stashes. But that's another story.

Happy Halloween!
